Facility-Based Respite
The facility-based respite program offers a break to families dealing with the stress that may accompany the unique challenges of caring for a child with a developmental disability. The program’s goal is to reduce the stress and keep the family intact, by allowing parents or caregivers to “recharge their batteries” and focus on other areas in their lives such as self-care, completing household tasks, and spending time with other family members.

Programming occurs in a safe, secure environment in KVC Missouri’s Respite House, located in Webster Groves. The program has a ratio of three children to one staff member with a maximum of six children at any time. This small group setting allows the children to move toward independence and increase self-sufficiency in a residential and community setting. While a child with any developmental disability can utilize services, the majority have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder or a dual diagnosis.
