Preferred Family Healthcare is a not-for-profit organization offering comprehensive services to Missouri, Oklahoma and Arkansas communities. Our vision is of communities where all people are valued, have the opportunity to be employed, can live in a family setting or home of their own and are able to build positive connections with others. We believe all people should be respected and involved in creating their own services and directing their own lives. We participate in these values by being leaders in developing and providing innovative, customer directed quality services.
Supported Employment:
Employment services help to ensure an individual's employment in the competitive environment is maintained in a long-term capacity. Services are provided to meet the needs of the individual employed and are designed to support individuals with developing and maintaining the skills needed for successful employment.
Independent Supported Living Assistance (ISLA):
ISLA services support individuals to live independently in the community. Supports promote the development of skills for independence so the individual can stay in his or her own residence and access the community.
Independent Living Assistance Fund (ILAF):
The Independent Living Assistance Fund (ILAF) enables ISLA providers to assist individuals living in the community with obtaining furnishings and household items for their homes.
Youth Employment:
The Youth Employment program provides a community-based work experience opportunity for students in St. Louis Public Schools, Special Education division. Students participate in training at worksites in the community with various businesses after school. Students are supervised by a job coach for 10 weeks, 1-2 days per week, 4-6 hours per day at the designated work site. Soft skills training and activities are implemented covering topics such as professionalism, being a team player, enthusiasm/attitude, communication, networking, problem-solving, and critical thinking throughout the work day as well.
