Description: Canterbury Enterprises, Inc. is a Sheltered Workshop providing employment and on-site training for people with multiple physical and developmental disabilities. Individuals are able to achieve employment due to the unique supports available. This sheltered workshop was formed for individuals with severe disabilities who were not achieving success at other sheltered workshops. Canterbury provides special attendant care and employment for individuals whose work speed is very limited.
S.T.E.P
This program is designed to provide employment, training and supports to St. Louis City residents with developmental disabilities who have chosen a sheltered workshop setting. Canterbury Enterprises specializes in providing training, supports and/or adaptations to employees who: have severe/multiple disabilities, have been unsuccessful in other workshop settings, do not meet the criteria of other workshops due to low productivity, and/or have support needs (e.g. assistance with personal care) that other shops do not provide. Our project assists people in maintaining employment by acquiring vocational skills, developing appropriate workplace relationships, and learning behaviors which lead to successful job placements. All employees have Individualized Program Plan meetings that are coordinated with their Person Centered Plan. Goals and objectives are developed on an individualized basis and, in addition to the areas listed above; behavior programs, personal care supports and referrals to other agencies may be addressed. The ultimate goal of all our employees is that they are able to maintain productive and meaningful employment of their choice.
